Must Have Items For RV’ers

This list of items is going to be items that are for the weekend warriors and full-time travelers alike. These will be the things that will help get you a neighbor or a person stuck on the side of the road going again. RVs are awesome at getting you into nature and really immersing you in the great outdoors, with that said they are all prone to having issues and constant maintenance to keep them in tip top shape. My goal as an Inspector and Technician is to get all of you the information and skills to correct most minor issues that most RV’ers will come across at some point in time.

The common problems that people come across are tire issues either a blowout or nail. A quality plug kit, jack, and air compressor can get you back on the road so the final repair can be made safely off the road.

The next most common is roof damage! State and National Parks are great for the cost and location, But most are still being updated slowly to accommodate taller and larger units. So the occasional drag down the roof from a large branch you didn’t see can rip the membrane. Eternabond tape is incredible stuff clean the area apply the tape and BOOM you have a fixed roof. for minor tears this can be a permanent fix especially if you don’t want to go through the insurance company.

Plumbing and electrical in RVs have come along way so most are relatively problem free but ocasssional fuses blowing and minor leaks from clamps that came loose do happen. Having extra fuses and pex clamps and tool can save yourself a lot of money and downtime doing it yourself.

The rest comes down to maintenance keeping things greased, lubed, and conditioned can add years to the life of your RV. Checking your sealants regularly can save you from water damage and dreaded delamination.
